Short Story Writing Contest Guidelines

As part of the conference, writers may submit one or more manuscripts in a short story writing competition. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a $10.00 reading fee. Manuscripts will be judged by an employee of Writers' Digest. Deadline for submission of all manuscripts is Friday, September 26, 2008. All manuscripts must be postmarked by this date or they will not be accepted. Checks should be made payable to NW Ohio Writers' Forum. PRIZES! 1st Prize: $100 cash 2nd Prize: $50 cash 3rd Prize: Copy of NWOWF Book Stories and Poems? We're All Forum Guidelines are: All entries must be typed on 8 ½ x 11" white paper, double spaced, Courier or Times New Roman font, 12 pt only. Entry word count is not to exceed 2500 words. A separate title page must accompany each entry with the author's name, address, telephone number, and title of the work. Only the title should appear as a running head on each page of the manuscript to be read. All manuscripts are submitted anonymously to the judge(s) for evaluation. Winning manuscripts will be selected on the basis of originality and content. Do not use folders or plastic covers of any kind to submit your work. A single paper clip or staple in the upper left corner will suffice. Work must be original, unpublished, and not a winner in any other contest at the time of entry. The decision of the judge(s) is final. Entries not following the guidelines will be disqualified. Only NW Ohio Writers' Conference registrants may enter the contest. Only the winning entry will be returned. All others will be disposed of (shredded) properly.
